What it is to read, review, write… think

This puts it as well as I can, which I think explains as much as I care to…The experiences that I have of literature in the 20th and 21st Century arethe beginning of this. I speak as a reader, as occasional something else and as a writer. The reader is really determined by interest alone, the reviewer (as something else) is often forced to clarify what the meaning of a sentence, paragraph, text and (what is that diagram for exactly?) The writer used to be fascinated about how this text about “building X” acquired sense and meaning, but now the writer is guided by a fascination with of a linguistic and prelinguistic kind — that is it turns out predominantly a “language and materialism”.

As a reader I have been predominantly interested in science fiction, modernism, philosophy, detective novels and occasional art books; as a reviewer I am especially concerned with texts that exceed narration and sense beyond the limits of old-style fables and stories, such things as (system) manuals, documents, requirements as well as philosophy and so on.

These days as a writer I am interested in finding methods and the means to express and document my anger with the world in which we live. Which is to say éveryday practices and practices generally. Usually I think these things, theories and activities complement one another. Either way this is overladen with philosophical pretensions, intentions and methods…. I am not intending to make any suggestions here to stimulate thought, to break through language, to break the schemes of ideas that are already petrified. How many bad ideas could I list from my philosophical heartland? No my intention is simple — on this day I am simply trying to clarify the everyday practices I live with, perhaps I’ll sit at a keyboard and transcribe this note from one of my working notebooks…. and so on.
