early in the morning there were a few photons curling round the edges of the blackout blinds, the light barely getting across the cracks between the vertical blinds in the bay windows. More anti-photons than photons. The windows are open behind the blinds, sometimes the rain catches us unawares, the water drops striking the inside of the window glass and if the wind is blowing from the south onto the inside of the blind. Making us aware of the room in the night, drops falling onto the dragon plant, or even as we refuse to move hoping to wait out the apocalypse. And this bedroom is the one we only use in the summer, listening for the crunch of police boots on the gravel path approaching one of the doors….
