2024, books
Of my 80 books read this year: About half were in translation; half written in English. One otr two machine translated from German. About one thirds were written and/or translated by women. Nothing to be said of the transient writing read on medium and substack and other places no matter how illuminating it will fade away… Some were books published in 2024 some were published in 2025. Some authors appeared more than once… Some were alive some were dead. And about a proportion were not contemporary (published in the last 20 years)…
perhaps the most useful and best were:
Ted Honderich’s Terrorism for Humanity, a radical leftwing understanding of terrorism.
LeCercle’s Deleuze and Language, a step towards a marxist philosophy of language.
Michel Serres Hermes 1, nothing needs to be said, important, classic, intelligent.
Bora Chang Your Utopias, fine contemporary science fiction.
Mallo The Book of all Loves, we live ere.
Nanni Balestrini Tristano 11768, on of the great literary inventions of the past 70 years.
Jacques Ellul Propaganda as clear and as useful as any book on propaganda could be in the resent.
That’s about it for 2024… it past 2025 will be no better
